Cavallo Point 1

One of my favorite things about San Fransisco is how many great places are close by for quick get aways!  This year for our anniversary we hopped over the bridge for a weekend getaway at Cavallo Point, a beautiful hotel tucked away right under the Golden Gate Bridge just north of the City.  The hotel is housed in an old army post called Fort Baker and the buildings were built in the early 1900’s, and renovated and reopened as Cavallo Point resort in 2008.

We checked in on Saturday afternoon and were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny afternoon to enjoy some cocktails and the beautiful view of the City and the Golden Gate.

And Cavallo Point is dog-friendly!  So that certainly earns brownie points in my book.  We were able to bring our darling furbaby Coconut along for our anniversary celebration and she loved every minute of it.

There are two different parts of the resort – the historic rooms and the contemporary rooms.  We stayed in one of the historic suites housed in the original army post buildings.  It was a lovely spacious room with modern decorations, a fireplace and a beautiful bright bathroom.

We had a delicious romantic dinner at the restaurant in the resort, Murray Circle.  Ryan had the boar ribs and I had the short ribs and we started with a cheese plate – of course!  The food was so tasty and the restaurant is a lovely, cozy space for a romantic dinner for two.  A few glasses of rosé and our anniversary celebration was perfect.

Perhaps even better than dinner was the amazing room service that we enjoyed on Sunday morning before we had to leave our dreamy little getaway and head back to the City and back to reality!  The eggs benedict are to die for.

Cavallo Point offers lots of wonderful activities if you are so inclined.  We opted to relax and unwind from our busy lives, but the spa certainly looked tempting!  Cavallo is also where were took our cheesemaking class (which I raved about here), and there are many different cooking courses offered, which I highly recommend.
